Application Process

Join the Next Generation of MaritimeLeaders

Embark on an exciting journey with MMTA - Nigeria & MMA - USA! Our application process is designed to identify passionate individuals eager to pursue a rewarding career in the maritime industry.
Application Submission
  • Online Application Form: Complete and submit an online application form available on the academy’s website.
  • Application Fee: A non-refundable application fee of $50 is required. Fee waivers are available for students with demonstrated financial need.
Academic Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: Applicants must have completed high school or possess an equivalent qualification.
  • Transcripts: Submit official high school transcripts or equivalent. Transfer students must also provide transcripts from any post-secondary institutions attended.
Supporting Documents
  • Letters of Recommendation: Two letters of recommendation are required, preferably from teachers, counselors, or employers who can attest to the applicant’s academic abilities and character.
  • Personal Statement: A personal statement (500-700 words) outlining the applicant’s interest in maritime studies, career goals, and why they wish to attend the Academy.
  • Resume: A resume detailing any relevant work experience, extracurricular activities, and achievements.
Entrance Interview
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview with the admissions committee /Admission officer to discuss their application and interest in the maritime field
Neuro-Psychological Evaluation
  • Assessment: Candidates will undergo a neuro-psychological evaluation to ensure they are cognitively and psychologically prepared for the demands of maritime training.
Medical Examination
  • Health Check: A comprehensive medical examination is required to ensure that candidates meet the physical and health standards necessary for maritime careers.
Decision Notification
  • Admission Decision: Applicants will be notified of the admission decision via email. Accepted students will receive an offer letter and instructions for enrollment.
Enrollment
  • Acceptance of Offer: Accepted students must confirm their acceptance by submitting an enrollment deposit.
  • Orientation: New students will participate in an orientation program to familiarize themselves with the academy’s facilities, faculty, and curriculum.
